“If you foolishly ignore beauty, you will soon find yourself without it, your life will be impoverished. But if you invest in beauty, it will remain with you all the days of your life.” Frank Lloyd Wright
My work is informed by the rough and sublime hand of nature, by work in the garden, by lessons that come from seed and soil, as well as from walks in the woods. There is always a search and appreciation for the prodigious imprint of design and the inevitable mark of beauty. Exploring Biblical and secular paradigms is a part of my process and is impetus for the work. Wood, clay, stone, and fiber are the natural mediums I work with requiring direct and visceral involvement and the process of each becomes part of understanding the form. It is a very candid response. Used for ages in art, craft, utility, and architecture, I believe these materials have a timeless quality that also herald present interpretations. My tools are handsaws, chainsaws, chisels, hand building and wheel techniques.
