“If you foolishly ignore beauty, you will soon find yourself without it, your life will be impoverished. But if you invest in beauty, it will remain with you all the days of your life.” Frank Lloyd Wright

My work is informed by the sublime hand of nature, by work in the garden, by lessons of seed and soil, as well as many walks in the wood.  There is always a search and appreciation for the vast imprint of design and the inevitable mark of beauty. Biblical and secular paradigms are often impetus for the work and reinforce the process. Wood and clay are my primary mediums. I find they require a direct and visceral involvement and the process of each becomes part of understanding the form. It is often very candid, honest, and unpretentious just like the soil where my garden grows . Despite being used for ages in art, utility, and architecture, these materials have a timeless quality that lend so well to present interpretations.  My studies in Biology and Sculpture seem a natural consequence of growing up in the garden and in the mountains, playing in mud, and hiking through woods and peaks. My tools are primarily handsaws, chainsaws, chisels, hand building and wheel techniques.
